How do I start a Fantasy Football Keeper league?

For the 2007 football season I would like to start a keeper league. The thing is I don't know how I can do this on Yahoo. Can someone please tell me how I can make one. Also, can you tell me some popular formats for keeper leagues like how many players are kept, how long are they kept, etc. Thanks.

How do I start a Fantasy Football Keeper league?nba news

You can start a group page for the fantasy league through yahoo groups. You'll need all of your league members to sign up for the group page and you can even start drafting now via the league's messageboard. You'll have to enter the players manually but its worth it if you're a diehard.

There are a lot of keeper/dynasty formats that you could use. Most keepers leagues keep anywhere from 3-5 players. If you keep 5 players the normal tendency is 1qb, 1rb, 1wr, 1 pk or tm and 1 flex player. Usually you can keep the players as long as you want.

I have yet to try a dynasty. In a dynasty league you get to keep your entire roster pretty much and the only way to get better from year to year is through trades or the rookie draft.

Auction leagues that use contracts and a salary cap are the latest to take off on the fantasy radar.

How can I watch Premier League football living in Japan?

I hear this year, JSky B are undecided about showing premier league football. If it transpires that they will not broadcast any, how may I watch? Is there a rival company who are planning to broadcast? How about via the Internet?

Any reasonable suggestions welcome.

How come college football players get all the glory?

I'm a 2nd year engineering student, and this campus can get pretty chaotic during its game days. People are vocal and very supportive of their teams, and that's okay. However, how come people don't express the same praise towards the engineering students as they do the athletic students?

I don't mean to simply bash them, but our football players entertain people for a few hours for a few days out of the year. On the other hand, engineers design the cars people drive, the computers to monitor life support systems, and even the toothpaste these people use to brush their teeth every single day. Shouldn't engineering students get at least some support and praise for their accomplishments too. How come this isn't the case? How come so few people (compared to our football games) come to our robotics competitions, etc, to show their support for our engineering students? Don't we affect people's lives just as much...if not more?

How comecollegefootball players get all the glory?nba fantasy

I agree with your sentiments. And the concerns you bring up are a microcosm of the real world as well. The contributions engineers and scientists make towards the greater part of societal necessities do not receive nearly enough acclaim. It's funny how Jeopardy is the closest thing that the more "cerebrally-inclined" will ever get to the reception of top athletes. To take it even further, Eli Manning's feats in last years Super Bowl probably holds a higher position in the minds of general society than Albert Fert for his discovery of Giant Magnetoresistance. I mean, compared to other countries, our society stands alone when it comes to rewarding professional athletes. Do you realize that if you took the sum of annual incomes for every professional athlete in the U.S., you'd probably end up with purchasing power greater to that seen in some third world countries? It's pretty disturbing. Ever since the ancient Games held at Olympia, athletic accomplishments and the heroic ideal have been closely intertwined and it's probably not going to change.

How comecollegefootball players get all the glory?nba draft picks ,nba teams

For one, people love football and the traditions that have gone on for years. It brings people together on campus and gives them something to talk about and be involved in. Also Football brings a lot of $ to big schools.

The key to a fun %26amp; successful life is to be the football player and the engineer.
My high school tried to fix that once and sent the cheerleaders along with the math team. Of course, the math team was half girls anyway, and the cheerleaders pretty much felt like they were there to mock us, so it didn't turn out too well.

Don't worry. In 5 or 6 years when the football players finally drop out or manage to finish that communications degree, they'll realize they can't hold down a job or a marriage. And you'll be making a lot more than them - and maybe you'll meet a nice math geek too. Here's hoping.
Football players offer immediate entertainment. Engineers do not. People can unite and relate to the contest. A science fair isn't nearly as thrilling. People who really get into game days are not disrespecting engineers, certainly.

Football brings in a lot of revenue for the school. At many schools, football is the largest income producer and helps fund countless entities campus-wide.

Since the beginning of time, sports has drawn greater interest than any academic pursuit. Grade schools complain consistently about how people flock to the sporting events while no one comes out for Quick Recall or the National Spelling Bee run offs.

It's just how it is.

No one denies the importance of engineering, or the English majors or those preparing to be teachers. But a sports talent will make well into six figures after dropping out ofcollegewhile a talented teacher is hard pressed to break $40,000 after five years on the job.

It's how we are. You can't really bring any logic or rationale to it.
Sorry, I'm an engineer and I don't want to watch anyone fiddle around with nuts and bolts and screwdrivers unless it's my 10 year old son, so I make sure he doesn't hurt himself.

Who the hell wants to watch someone sit in front of a computer making designs and programming stuff? Hmm? BORING TO WATCH.

Science and Engineering are individual pursuits. We do stuff for our own benefit and enjoyment, people can then come by, proclaim how cool it is and then and pay me to buy the stuff I make, thank you very much. Sports are competitive, and it's fun to watch competitions. It isn't fun to watch people sitting at a desk doing math. And I wouldn't want to go to a robotics competition to watch kids fiddle around with something that barely works...I did robotics in high school. If people want to watch stuff run around they're free to do it--I don't care. I don't know why you are so concerned, either.

On the other hand, if they want to watch their favorite sports team play, I would rather watch Tiger Woods play golf, of all things, than watch a robotics competition with nebulous rules and goals.

And by the way, football players from my school go to work at Goldman Sachs. OooOooOooO

What is the difference between a football and soccer stadium?

From what I've observed, the size of the pitch is pretty different. The European pitches are much wider than our football fields. They may be longer as well, but they are certainly wider. That is what we have available here, but it is not what they are used to playing on and it makes a difference. I can understand the concerns.

How do I start a Fantasy Football league without having to pay money for it?

This is my first time being a commissioner of a league normally one of my buddies does it and the rest of the group gets the free ride. Now he fell of the face of the earth and the rest of us are trying to set one up. I went on the main Fantasy football page and tried to set up a custom league and spent 15 minutes going through the settings only to get the the very end were it says it costs $150! I know there is a way to start a free league but I cant find it? Any help would be much appreciated!!!

hope you can find it and make it work and have a great season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go to this link: http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/

You must of clicked on Football PLUS '07 in the top right hand corner. Right under that there is Football '07. You click Create a League under Football '07. DONT click the Create a league that is yellow. It is the one under it.
You went to the wrong kind of league. Go to create a league under the free fantasy football. It should say play for free, and create or join a league, click on create one.

Who thinx that football fans who hate each other are PATHETIC and need to grow up?

Football is a wonderful game and the whole reason for this is because it brings countries and other places together. Why do some idiots see it as a reason for a fight? I mean it shows hatred in the game but in all fairness, I personally don't think that there is any hatred in it what-so-ever and it's just an excuse for these idiots to do something with there day because they have no interesting things going on in their lives, 'shallow lives' I call it.

I mean i'll be the first to say a good ol' football arguement is brilliant, listening to two seperate fans argue is hillarious, like on this site, it is harmless, entertaining if anything.

But when it comes to fighting on the streets, I think their pathetic and need to grow up and get a life, who's with me?

im definetly with you on this.... a sport is a sport and as fine as it is to favor your own team, some people forget that it is just a freaking game!!! get over yourselves. i believe those who physically fight over this stuff is just 'trying' to prove to themselves and others that they are tough guys when in fact in clearly shows their insecurities in their own team. why do people automatically think of those who favor a team other than their own, their enemies. dont they realize that they share the love of the game.

I鈥檓 with you, Sexy!

Why take a difference of opinion on anything to the level of violence? It only makes the people doing this look asinine.
yup i agree
I COMPLETELY AGREE.

ITS RIDICULOUS WHEN PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS HERE...MAKING FUN OF OTHER USERS AND CLUBS............
Agreed
The sad thing is, I know exactly what you are talking about. Living is Wisconsin is a perfect chance at getting to see people spend huge amounts of their time yelling and shouting and fighting about which team is the best. Like you said, it is pretty amusing at first, but after awhile I feel like yelling at them to shut their fat traps and give it a rest! My God......you know what I really hate? When fans yell at the players.

The players are the ones on the football team. I don't see you out there throwing the football or kicking it. Obviously they have something you don't, which is skill!

Sorry, I guess I really needed to let that out.
you sound sexy..just by saying that!!
i agree...I also want to add that if your team is losing and you decide that you don't want to watch any more so you have a fit and turn the tv off (my roomie), don't come beoyching to me about it...she did that twice and...her team came from behind and won...
Yeah I agree. Hating is a bit overboard. Its one thing to support one's team unconditionally but to bring other's teams down is just childish.
People who think that watching 22 overpaid posers kick a ball around a field for 90 minutes is sport or entertainment are pathetic generally and need to grow up and get a life.
oh yeh definately..

all this talk on here though thats all just a bit of rivalry aint it..i like that but like firms and all that **** and violence, well that's jst stupid

Check a book out from a libery about football and teach them from the book :)
I'm going through the same thing with my wife. She is very interested in it, but would like to know whats going on. She still thinks the secondary is the second string. LOL. But as everyone said, watch the game with your cousin and explain as it goes.
First teach what the MAIN GOAL OF THE GAME IS, which is either a touchdown or a fieldgoal. Explain the point system, the boundaries, and then finally, the basic rules. Let him ask questions and be patient. Football is kind of complicated, especially to foreigners. It helps if you show him taped spectacular games to show what a game looks like in progress. After time, he'll pick things up here and there and finally get the hang of it. But I do stress PATIENCE, because you're going to need it. Good luck and have fun!
What everyone else said... just watch the game with them and explain whats going on.
have them watch the games with u and have lots of patience. i learned from a man who had lots of patience and could stand answering th esame questions over and over until i learned them. Patience is the answer. good luck

Put it on eBay and see what it goes for. Sports memorabilia is only worth what someone will pay. I sell tons of it but never get the amount it appraises for. Save your money and let the market dictate the price. Oh and if it is authentic with a COA (certificate of authenticity) it will be worth more as you can prove through an independant source that it is legit.

What type of football cleats should i get?

I am currently a sophomore in highschool who is looking for new football cleats for varsity year. Right now, in spring practice, I am using my JV football Underarmour "Hammer" cleats. They are OK but I am looking for something that is better. I recently got off of track season and found that I was fastest with light sprint shoes and when I normally wear size 10-10.5 sneakers, I wore size 8.5-9 Track sprinting spikes. I am a Runningback right now and am looking for the right size shoe to maximize my speed on the football field, and also the right make, or brand. Thankyou and all answers will be appreciated. 1- Luca Toni : Toni is also known for his goal celebration, which consists of stretching his 5 fingers of his right hand and rotating them left and right next to his right ear. Said to have originated in Palermo. It's a gesture to the crowd to "pump up the volume" and make more sound.

2- Francesco Totti: Francesco Totti uses a variety of celebrations for special occasions. One of the more classic and remembered is the one where he took his shirt off and had a shirt under that said "6 (sei) Unica!" meaning you are unique, he flashed this to Ilary Blasi, his current wife. His most common celebrations are the one where he runs to the side , kissing his ring finger in honor of his wife and than pointing upwards with his finger, thanking god. he also sucks his thumb, which he began using when his son, Cristian, was born. He sucks his thumb in honour of his son.

3- Alberto Gilardino : is the coolest with his Violin celebration

4- Vincenzo Montella :

Montella's nickname is L'Aeroplanino ("The Little Aeroplane"), in a reference to his short height and trademark goal celebration

What are the restrictions on selling football tickets on eBay?

I have become interested in purchasing season football tickets (NCAA) and then reselling the ones I don't care to attend. I know there are laws against scalping, yet it seems that people are selling for whatever price they want on eBay. I'm not so much wondering if this is a good business, but what laws must I follow in selling these tickets? For example, if I buy 2 USC gamecocks season tickets for $1000, can I then choose any price to sell the tickets I don't want or do I have to sell them for what the University sells them for? Thanks for your help, ya'll.

You cant sell tickets to a venue in the state you are located in for anything over the cost. So if you live in NY you can sell NJ Devils tickets for any amount, but you cannot sell Ranger tickets for anything over the cost. Hopefully that makes sense.

How to not get tired at football practice ?

Okay, i am trying out for my school's football team this year and i went to my first practice on the field today. As practice went on, i found myself getting tired very quickly and i was also messing up on simple drills when i got tired. So what do you think my problem is ? And how could i stop getting tired so quickly ?

Doesn't matter if you are healthy or not it helps.. but the main reason is obviously you are not in shape... give it a couple weeks of practice and you w ill notice a difference.

its the first day, so its gonna be hard

ur body isnt use to the activity, u'll be fine after a couple days

also u should eat more protein since it repairs/builds muscle fibers

those guys who eat the junk food r probly not pushing themselves hard enough during practice or they're making sure they're not eating too many calories

3500 calories = 1 pound

eating 2000 calories of fat is the same weight gain as 2000 calories of carbs
Bring some energy drinks, like gatorade, powerade, or some sort of granola bar. And also your body might not be used to football practices so therefore it gets tried. But it WILL get used to it the more you do it!
try keeping a power bar in your pocket and just take it out and grab a small bite whenever you have a minute of down time at practice. That's what I used to do with soccer.

Processed meats, such as hot dogs etc., are high in sodium. You might want to consult with the dietitions of Whole Foods on this dilema. They have products that taste somewhat comprable, but are lower in sodium, fat, and sugar.

From a practical standpoint, making your own dips, french fries and meats for sandwiches might be a good idea. Have you considered AllRecipes.com in their heart healthy selections? Here are some other ideas:

1. BBQ'd Pork Sandwiches: lean pork tenderloin, cooked and tossed in low sodium Barbecue sauce. Serve with home made cole slaw and baked "fries" (potato wedges, drizzled with a little olive oil and tossed with herbs, garlic, and lite salt) with low sodium ketchup.

2. Vege dip: fat free sour cream mixed with chopped water chestnuts, spinach (defrosted and drained of all liquid), and low-sodium leek soup mix. Serve with carrot stix and celery, cauliflower, and low sodium crackers.

3. Brownies: look for low-fat, low-sugar brownie mixes (Trader Joes and Krusteaz), add applesauce instead of eggs or oil and bake. Top with sugar free/fat free ice cream.

Good luck!

Ki-bobs prepared at home and veggies trays can be fun. Try home making mini pizzas with very little cheese add veggies instead of meat. Also many snack food company's now make salt free snacks.
I like to make a snack mix with raisins and peanuts. You can get un-salted peanuts. I also like those semi-sweet chocolate morsels mixed with peanuts. Practice just catching the ball without actually running your route first this will give you practice with just catching...

Try not to use gloves at first, and develop your hands, if you need to though, get some gloves.

You need to put your hands out in front and make a triangle with your fingers. The two thumbs on the bottom, and the index fingers meeting at the top. When the ball arrives, the tip will fit into this triangle and you should immediately close your hands around the rest of the ball and hold on.
Use your hands, not your body. When you let the ball hit your chest it has a better chance of bouncing off. Get gloves it helps with the grip on the ball. Follow the tip of the ball all the way into your hands.
Just get used to the feel of the ball. When i was in middle school i always carried a football, it helped my hands get used to the ball. Also just throw the ball w/somebody %26amp; work on looking the ball into your hands %26amp; then look it into the tuck(do this everytime) b/c you don't want to drop an easy pass by looking up field first. Then just work on route %26amp; just run around %26amp; have some1 throw you the pigskin.

What to put in football boys halloween treat bags?

My nephew plays for a Jr. Pee Wees football team (ages 8-11)and I wanted to give them each all a halloween sack. They're in the process of practicing for the playoffs where they're playing in our state Stadium. Some of the boys need to watch their weight. They can't go over 105lbs or they won't play. I had an idea of putting a 12oz gatorade and a trail mix bar in a halloween themed sack. What do you think? Do you have any other ideas that I can include in the pack?

How do I improve my tackling in football?

I don't play team football, just football with friends. So that means no pads and such. I started workin out a while back, but I'm not big yet. Since I'm decently tall, and accurate, I generally play quarterback or reciever. I'm a good corner, but if someone catches it, I have trouble tackling that person down. Sometimes it's hard to pull them down, and it's even more difficult if the person isn't wearing a shirt since they are so slippery.

What do you typically do in a football practice?

I've joined freshman football and man does it wear me out. I just want to know what kinds of things other schools do during the freshman year of football.

What do you typically do in a football practice?nba trade rumors

It really varies from school to school and because of a lot of Interscholastic Federal Guidelines imposed....

Back when I played we used to do:

"Bear Crawls" which were the length of the field endzone to endzone on all fours and no knees on the ground....

"Gasers" which were ran at full speed sideline to sideline...

"Snakes" where we snaked the stadiums stairs... on btoh sides twice...

"Bunnie Hops" which were hopping up those same staduim steps running down and hopping up again...

"Burdens" where we had to carry a bar with weights on it on our shoulders 100 yards jogging...

"The Sled" which was a sled that had room for 3 coaches to stand on and it had straps so it could be hooked on to bigger players and they'd have to pull it...

and a bunch of other stuff... we spent more time cinditioning then we did anything else... and everyone conditioned the same, regardless of Varsity, JV, or Freshmen...

What do you typically do in a football practice?nba standings ,nba teams

Run ,Run and Run some more, etc.
practice playing football
When we first get on to the field we do warm-ups, and then break apart in to offensive position drills. Then the QB's and receivers get together for route timing while the RB's and O-line (TE split the time with O-Line and receivers) go into run blocking schemes and assignments. Next the RB's come over with the QB's, RB, TE, and WR and run a skeleton offensive (Just pass plays and more route timing) Next we the O-Line comes over and we do a team offense up against a dummy defense (running plays the opposing team that week will run.

Then we break apart in to defensive position drills, as a DB we would do what we call "force and fill" which goes over assignments against the run and then the LB's come over and join in the fun. While the D-line goes over "Slant and Scrape which goes over defensive assignments against run plays and what formation they are in. Then we break into a Skeleton defence by bringing over the DE's and go over pass defense. The the DT's come over and we run team defense.
first-we did class room to watch the other teams film and our own (only on monday) then we went out and warmed up and walked through formations and plays we would be using. then we did position drills (OL went to the sled, QB did run throughs with the RBs and some passing run throughs with the WRs)..then we would run against a scout def (as a starting LB on jv-and no where near the offensive depth chart..i ran it-its awesome when you own your own team..but sad[i chose the plays ocne i knew what they did-gotta love coaches trust]). after team up we did sprints and a good bit of pushups. then we huddled and left.

defensive days-went out-stretched-did pursuit drills (whcih suck if you screw up even once and if 1 outa 11 does-you restart) about 4 times ish....went and did position drills (DL-sled and oklahomas, LB-tackling and reading drills, DBs-pass defelection/int drills and backpedals and what not) and then starting def vs scrub off....then ran some more more than likely.

if youre worn out...you should be-just be in better shape and run mroe next year itll help alot.
you go over plays do some drills. in freshman football people dont really take it serious.
we start w/stretching %26amp; some mild conditioning. then individual drills linemen, WR, RB, %26amp; QB do their own drills then we do routes on air w/out linemen then team Offense. %26amp; same thing on Defense but w/your defensive coaches. %26amp; we end w/conditioning.
coach makes us get naked in the showers and soap each other up. dont know why he needs the camera though, i find that a little weird....
Run, practice some plays, run, do some ball drills, run, hit the sled, run, learn some routes, run, learn some terminology and run
practice football.
freshman football is jus the foundation..wait til sophmore year its gonna be twice as hard unless you start doin daily exercises..typically starting in the weight room we do as many 15-20 reps of whatever weights and switch and then when were done , go outside to do grueling pushups after that hard weight room workout..after that goin to the field for some agility, coordination techniques and after that then its to another field where we work on running and skill positions seems hard now..wait til later
Practice plays and run drills for the most part, oh yeah and there is a lot of running involved. I've long since graduated high school but that's what our football practice consisted of pretty much every year.

Wear a sweatshirt with a cute jean skirt and make sure to incorporate school colors. Anything would be okay to a game.
Well, I'm on my schools 'spirit squad' and I wear green and blue head to toe....

But if you want to look cute, just wear a cute cami, jeans/bermuda shorts, and flats. Be causal. No heels or anything like that.

What is the difference between batting gloves and football gloves?

My son is in flag football and we have his batting gloves from baseball can he just use those for football or do we need to buy him specific ones?

Thanks

What is the difference between batting gloves and football gloves?nba tickets

Buy football gloves (receiver gloves). Football gloves have traction lines and bumps in order to better grip/catch a ball. Batting gloves are heavily padded, and are mainly used to absorb and deaden the shock that occurs when the bat hits the ball. They don't usually have any grips, and can actually make catching a football tougher.

What is the difference between batting gloves and football gloves?nba fights ,nba teams

One is meant for battling and one is meant for football.
Yes, he can use those. No point in going out and spending money when he can use his batting gloves. Although football gloves are specially designed for catching. I don't think it will make much difference.

Why is Football called Soccer in America? And why is there Football even called Football?

I mean, English football came before American Football and American Football hardly involves using your feet. I mean, why even call it football when a game called football already existed. It makes no sense.

nothing in the USA makes sense

Why is Football called Soccer in America? And why is there Football even called Football?nba draft history ,nba teams

Soccer is a slang term, first used in England in the 1880's. It is an abbreviation of association football.

The word "Football" does not refer to kicking a ball, but it is believed that it originated in the 15th century as a term for games that took place "on foot".
I'm not sure but I think that in the old english there is a word that starts with (Socc) or something that has to do with feet !

and beside american are new english who wanted a new life in a new country that had nothing to do with their old one (ENGLAND)!
ok in the united states its called soccer because they stoled the name, (american) football was created because of soccer (the real football) because if there wouldnt have beeen soccer (football) there wouldnt be (american) football,
because we run this planet, so what we say goes. enjoy your soccer games.

How to be good at football tryouts and what exactly will I have to do?nba merchandise

I'm assuming you're a senior in high school who's never played Varsity football before. I was in the same boat as you man, my first real year of football (other than a year in the 6th grade), was my senior year of high school and I loved every single minute of it. I ended up starting at cornerback and made 2nd team all-district which really is not bad at all for having never really played football before. To add to that, I was only around 155-160 at the time. All it takes is heart and desire. The best advice I can give you is to hustle your @$$ off every single play in practice. The coaches will notice that. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. If you can show in practice that you're athletic enough to be an asset to the team, the coaches won't mind if you ask them questions. Just don't ask the same thing twice and don't ask a question about anything you've already been told. During practice, hit someone full-speed and as hard as you can unless the coaches tell you otherwise. If this is your first year ever playing you've got to make a statement on that field and let everyone know you mean business. Never EVER jog or go half speed, especially on special teams, if someone catches you doing that they will LAY YOU OUT. Just remember you need to be110% the whole time, and when you hit someone, make sure they remember it. Don't be afraid of getting hit either, that's what the pads are for. And as far as your mental confidence goes, after you pop someone good that first time, you'll have all the confidence in the world. That one year of football my senior year was the best time I've ever had. My only regret is that I didn't play all through high school. Enjoy it while you can because it's gone before you know it.

A lot of running. There will be an incredible amount of running. Starting out you all will go through conditioning drills. Push-ups, stretches, and walk throughs. It really depends on what position you're playing. At 5'11 I'd assume you are a running back, reciever, or defensive back. Be ready for catching drills, a lot of cutting and route running. Be sure to drink plenty of water. Let me know if you need anything else.
if your not Black then just forget about it right now. Really, it doesn't matter how good you are. And if your even thinking a little about being a "skilled" position player...well your really out to lunch. Sorry but that's the reality. Case in Point: 1st day of camp at a major college, two kids side by side, one is white, the other black. Both run equal 40-yard times (4.55) both run similar shuttles, have decent verticals etc., let's even say the white kid shows a better knowledge of the passing game. Guess who gets to be the FULLBACK? Whitey.

Take up skateboarding.

Sincerely, A Bitter Retired FULLBACK (with 4.55 speed)
Learn the plays. Execute flawlessly. Hit hard. Speed! Speed kills in any sport. At 5'11 sounds like a corner or safety. Special teams too ( kick off returns, punt returns etc..). Oh and a little something called heart. Don't give up, get up when they knock you down and do it with a smile. The biggest guy can put you on your *** the whole game and if you keep getting up and going full on,every play, by the end of the game you've earned his respect and more importantly, you respect yourself. Good luck.
Just do your best, listen to the coaches, and get yourself in shape. Everything else you will learn in practice. Good luck.
you got to trust me here I've been playing football for six years. make sure your in shape because your going to have to run allot. on the first week you are going to condition. so don't forget to bring allot of water. also they are going to ask you your position you play. at 5'11 170lbs that's a size for a wide receiver if you think you catch and you like to catch tell them your a wide receiver.

Go to a local card shop. You'll find them in the phone book. Also find a copy of Beckett Football Card Collector magazine. They will list cards and values of cards. I like Topps and Fleers. But there are a lot of different companies. I've been collecting since 1969. Topps used to dominate sports cards. Now there are a lot of different companies. You and your son have to decide why you want to collect. You can get sets, singles or players from certain teams. You also have to decide how much you want to spend. That's a big question. Some of the cards from 2006 are expensive. If you have any questions you can email me. I'd be more then willing to help you and your kid. It's a great hobby.

honestly, if he is just starting out, go to Kmart and get topps cards. If you go to a dealer they are gonna rip u off and tell you "oh you need this" and try selling you a pack for $50. Its not cheap anymore at all. Most packs are a minimum $2. Kmart has it all though for someone just starting out. Once you get there, you will see the Topps cards and you will see the other companies. The other companies cards are a little more pricey

You could go to any hobby shop that sells sportscards. You can also go to eBay, or Modells. The trusted brands for football cards are Topps and Upper Deck.

u should go out for varsity for a wide reciever cornerback or a safety if you are fast i play high school im a freshman 5'11 i weigh 169 and i play cornerback, i can run a 4,4 i dont kno if thats bad or not but if u cant do that then i suggest outside linebacker

Open a can of no-bean chili and pop it into the microwave to heat. Chop up a block of cream cheese while it's heating. Stir the cream cheese into the chili. Result: one yummy and filling dip. It's heavy, so use tortilla chips with it. They don't break as easily as potato chips.

On the subject of canned chili, add a can of chili to a box of mac-and-cheese mix. Cook the macaroni according to the directions on the package. When you're ready to combine noodles and cheese sauce, add the chili, too. Heat through.

Real pigs-in-blankets might be fun. It's best with turkey dogs because they contain less fat to seep into the biscuit. Stretch a biscuit to fit around each hotdog and bake as directed on the biscuit package. Serve with hotdog condiments.

Bumps on a log are fun as cold food on a warmer day. Wash and slice celery stalks so you have pieces about 5" long with a deep groove in the center. Mix a little margarine into some peanut butter to make it lighter and easier to spread. Spread the PB mixture into the grooves in the celery stalks. Top with raisins.

Start with Queso made with Velveeta! The recipe is on the packages of Velveeta. Plenty of chips for dipping. Maybe Cocktail Sausages in BBQ sauce! Fried Cheese! Chicken nuggets! Hope these help!
Meat and cheese platters with little breads for snack sandwiches. Serve a variety of deli and gourmet mustards. Hot dips are good; artichoke, or clam, or onion dipped with crudities (fresh vegetables) or toasted baguettes. My all time favorite is heirloom cherry or berry tomatoes on picks dipped in homemade buttermilk (ranch) or blue cheese dressing.
I think you need some "warm" food. You have to have the mini wieners and put them in the oven w/ some BBQ sauce. You can also buy frozen meatballs, heat them up and drop them in sauce. I would buy a pre-made 7 layer nacho dip. You can also purchase some chili (Stag or Hormel) and buy those dipping Frito's (the one with the dip or the scoop). Lastly, it is always nice to have some veggies and dip. Good luck!!
beer!!
Good old Texas chilli! No better food for watching football, and the aroma of a pot of chilli simmering on the stove always builds healthy appetites.
This recipe for hot artichoke spinach dip takes a little effort, but they will LOVE it- I make it for football parties all the time:

Nachos, chips, pop, and and all of the stuff you have been serving before.

Buy the cresent roll dough premade and put lil hot dogs in them (lil pigs in the blankets). You can make them with bisquick too...

Vege dips are actually really good even though you would not think guys would like it... mine do... and I use packets of seasoning and sour cream for dips instead of the 4 dollar pre mades.

Nachos MMMMMMMMM .... Simple and easy if you buy the jars of cheese and throw some peppers in a bowl and some corn and black olives... and a jar of picante.

Trail mix.

Doughnuts (and beer ... shudder what a thought)

Gold fishes.........mmmmmmmmmmm.........

Lots of stuff to do in the crock pot like lil weaners and sauce, or even italian sausage and onions/peppers.

Chili

Wings
Why not ask your friends of the top 5 foods each would like to have at the party. Try to give everyone something on that list. Better yet since you are hosting the event as each person to bring something they think everyone would like. Why are you providing all the refreshments? How about beer nuts or honey roasted peanuts. Maybe nachos with hot melted cheese. Yum...what time should I be there.
buffalo wings, seven-layer dip, nachos with everything on them (beans, taco meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, hot sauce), tamales, sub sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers -- lots of yummies
You can't go wrong with brats!
nachos, beer, hotdogs ect.

How many high school football players make it to the big league?

I'm just wondering, since many of the football players at my school just live for football. They only go to class so they can get atleast a 2.0 gpa, which is required to play sports.

How many high school football players make it to the big league?nba live 2008

3% play college

How many high school football players make it to the big league?nba live 2005 ,nba teams

To make it on a Division 1 team you have a very small chance, from the people who make it to D-1 theres an even smaller chance to get into the NFL.
about 4%
big league .....college ? less than 1/2 of 1 %
Lets see, one in about 35 goes to college. Of those there are about 250 drafted each year out of like, 5000 eligible players. So it is 5 percent of the 3 percent who play high school. Dont worry most of those guys in your school will either go get blown up in some foreign war or become cops. If you marry one, just get good life insurance on them. Out!
But you could think of it this way, every player in the NFL played High School football ;)
about 1/20,000. pretty much none of them.

What is the difference with the football divisions?

My husband humors me when I ask him football questions. I genuinely like football and am pretty sure that I like the Colts. I like the way Manning plays and their offense is doing good. I still have a lot to learn, any suggestions on how to get more info without harrassing my husband so he won't give me that "don't bother me while football is on" look?

These sites give info about what is goin on in the league and stuff like that.
You can watch T.V. and use the internet
Yes, go to the Sports section of Yahoo and look up the NFL. It'll have various sections that detail the various divisions with the names of the teams, standings and stats. It's very easy to learn although you will have to watch several games to really pick up on the rules and what can and can't be done. Good luck to you.

watch ESPN at 8:30 on sunday morning. they have a show called NFL Matchup, with two guys named Ron Jaworski and Merril Hodge. They break stuff down real simple and they are ALWAYS right.
If you really want to know ask him later. I hate it when the wife unit asks me stupid questions during the game.

Basically the divisions are broken down geographically. The Conferences are broken up somewhat randomly now.
Watch the NFL Network and as much football as possible.

How would instituting a collegiate football program help a university?

I am doing a report on how instituting a football program for our university would help our school as a whole. I got some ideas on how it would help, but I need internet sources as proof. Does anyone know of any such websites that I could use as sources for my report?

How would instituting a collegiate football program help a university?nba logo

it helps bring more attention to the school and gets their name out more so than if there is not football or athletics.

How would instituting a collegiate football program help a university?nba video ,nba teams

Even a loosing football program brings in money. Ticket , and merchandise sales. National exposure from a winning team is the best advertisement for any school. Take a look at other schools ticket sales report, and alumni donations.
Just google NCAA football profits.

There are only two sports in the NCAA that can consistently make a positive income for a university: men's basketball and football. And really, football is a lot more likely to be profitable in a down year than basketball.

I'd also look for information on the University of Central Florida's football program. I'd even email their athletic department. They would be a perfect model of how a school that didn't even have a football team a few years ago built a program that was both successful and profitable in a short amount of time.
so your school don't have football team.. hmm.. Is your school one of those small liberal colleges out there? It takes millions of dollar to start football program even at small school.. Your school have to build their own stadium.. Anyway, the money will come from ticket sells, boosters, and merchandise.. If you football team do well financially then it would help you school if it is not it will hurt your school.. .
How much revenue do you think your school makes with golf, tennis, checkers, etc. The real money is in football, gives national exposure to the university, which is a good thing unless your a Notre Dame fan.

What state has the best high school football?

I have seen Texas, Colorado, Wyoming and Virginia. The two most disapointing games were in Richmond, Virginia and in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Texas football has always been exciting to me but I've also seen a lot of good Colorado football. I grew up in a small town in Texas and it's just like in the movies where the whole town closes down for the football games. In my opinion Texas has the best however I've heard good things about Florida and California highschool football. What is your take on this subject? What state has the best high school football?

What state has the best high school football?nba referee

Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, and Florida. Basically anyone from the south.

What state has the best high school football?basketball tickets ,nba teams

texas and california are good
florida
mississippi and alabama alot of people say louisianna but the ms 5a state champs beat the la 5a state champs every year
Texas
i would say the 3 best are texas, florida, and california like you said. i live in cali, and i hear a lot about the really good HS teams like poly, de la salle, some of the private christian schools around here. i live in the bay area so i hear alot about de la salle, with their 150 something game winstreak that was broken a few years ago.

i know texas is always big on football as is florida.
Texas easily. A lot of great players come from Texas high schools.
WITHOUT ANY DOUBT".LOUISIANA"......HANDS DOWN THE VERY BEST IN THE COUNTRY!
I'd have to say TX
Everyone says texas and i agree. Cali and Florida up there too
california
In terms of excitement and depth of teams Texas rules without any contest.
Honeslty I'm a little disappointed. Nowhere has Ohio been mentioned. I live in a small town in Ohio and it's like how those movies about high school football. The population is 2,500 maybe 4,000 with outlaying areas. And they'res always at least 5,000+ at the games(visting teams).

I mean i know Texas is big about it too. Ohio doesn't produce the talent like Texas, Cali, or Fla. But if you have ever met a die hard OSU fan believe me they're usually just as die hard about their local HS team.
Texas all the way!!!
anywhere down south. but if you look at top 150 high school seniors year in and year out, texas and florida hands down.
TEXAS and Louisana
Louisiana. A lot of people will say Texas but they were beaten by Louisiana.
California, Texas, Louisiana in that order. California and Texas mostly just because there's so many people that there's bound to be better football players. Plus, in Texas, high school football is the main sport for many areas..they love them some HS gridiron.

California has many strong prep school programs as well, places like Mater Dei and Cardinal Newman (my HS's erstwhile rival...their QB coach is Joe Montana, for craps sake!) that recruit like crazy from across the country, plus the number of strongcollegeprograms like UCLA, Cal, and USC of course attracts a lot of young players. All the big colleges know to scout the California high schools, so its where you go to get discovered.

Louisiana has LSU nearby, but they're basically Texas Plus....they dont have the population, but they have the same myopic passion for football and they produce a lot of heated high school games as well :)
I'm from Indiana, our state sucks for football. Don't let anyone tell you anything for this answer other than Texas.

Florida is the only other state in the rear view mirror.
Texas
Florida---Most of the players that play for Florida, FSU, %26amp;Miami, are from Florida
I've lived in Colorado and Texas, and although it is a republic, not a state, I have to say Texas. They start football at age four, and it is serious business. Plus, the fans are so good at every level.

Colorado starts much later and garners much less support, although they do love football, they also love hockey, skiing and outdoorsey stuff.

The popularity of football is growing everywhere, thank goodness.
Of course it's probably Texas, but I'm surprised no ones talking about the northeast. Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, West Virginia, etc. Pennsylvania and Ohio have an all star game called "The big 33" and it's a pretty huge deal.

Just a quick reminder that Marino, Montana, Namath and Unitas are all from Pennsylvania.

But yes, from what I hear, Texas is psychotic about football, so I'd expect the best games to be there.
I've lived in cali, texas, and florida growing up and i would have to say texas is the more die hard football state followed by cali, then florida.

How can I use psychology to convince my parents football my senior year would be beneficial towards

They don't work with anything less than a good, clean, convincing explanation. Why would football be beneficial for me? As you might want to know, I do participate in grappling, but the sports aren't the same season.

How can I use psychology to convince my parents football my senior year would be beneficial towards me?nba finals 2007 ,nba teams

1. Develop "team player" attitude

2. Cultivate friendships

3. Develop leadership skills

4. Enhance your physical well being

5. Shores up yourcollegeapplication's "extra curricular activities" section

6. Enhances your self esteem

7. Allows for structured, (relatively) safe and supervised after school activities

8. (and perhaps most importantly). You are growing into a man. It is vital that you are given opportunities both to succeed and to fail. As a senior in high school, it is certainly appropriate for you to decide whether or not to participate in a given sport. A year from now, you will (probably) be in college, and mother and dad won't be making these types of decisions on your behalf anymore. It is important that you "try out" independent decision making NOW, where it is "safe" to make a few mistakes (not that football would necessarily be a mistake).

Best of luck in encouraging your parents to allow a young man to make his own decisions regarding participation in extra curricular activities.
